What am I currently working on..?
Because if my 30+ years in the adult industry and my continueing fight for sexworkers’ rights and freedoms I am not really qualified for any other job. I’m not really interested in anything else, except perhaps getting myself a ‘neighborhood bar’, eventhough I don’t drink alcohol any longer. I am interested in helping sexworkers, pornstars, models and content creators getting something better than they currently have.
I have never been an “either/or” kind of person. I’ve always been more of a “what-if-we-took-the-best-part-of-everything-and-combined-it-to-make-a-greater-thing?” kind of person.
Take the “platforms” you’re working for. (Not ‘with’, you’re working for them!)
They give you freedom to make revenue on your fans/subscribers, but at the same time they limit you to no end. The freedom part is very good. I am very ecstatic about the freedom content creators have on the platforms, but it pains me to see that content creators are limited in what they can and cannot do, and still have to fork over 20% to the platform.
The platforms do absolutely nothing to promote you. All you get is a diluted brand-name (everyone is an OF-girl nowadays) with no real power behind it. You do all the promotion and create all the content. Is it really worth the limits and the ‘simplicity’ of the platform to pay 20% of your revenue to them, while you do all the work?
I’d say no, but if you think it’s a fair trade – including they own the rights to your content as well – you don’t need to read the rest of this post. It’s not for you if that’s your version of ‘fair’.
Then there’s the whole self-promotion thing.
You can’t really say anything or promote yourself on Tiktok or Instagram. Eventhough I don’t really follow any content creators on Twitter/X I constantly read about how difficult it is to do promotional stuff on these platforms; more often than not content creators get banned and need to restart with a new profile. It’s a waste of time.
These things irks me (although I love the word ‘irks’).
Again, as with all of my “great new ideas” this isn’t really something I’d take credit for. Someone else probably thought of it before, but noone has really done anything about it.
I am currently working on creating a simple social media platform that is going to be absolutely free for all involved; users, content creators and everyone else. A simple “facebook for content creators” that creates a different way for content creators to promote themselves.
One of the drawbacks of OnlyFans, as an example, is that all communication is peer-to-peer. A better solution is mass-communication in the style of Facebook. You know, promoting the lastest picture-set on your platform – or better yet; your own website – to as you would on Facebook (if you could) or a snippet from behind the scenes video as you would on Tiktok (if you could). Talk to your fans, and perhaps get new fans, by simply interacting with all of them at the same time instead of one-on-one on OnlyFans. Sure, you could also do one-on-one but why not both?
And why not help eachother out a little? Maybe some hidden forums just for content creators to communicate with eachother? Surely a forum to communicate with the platform would be ideal? Perhaps even a forum for freelance webdesigners, photographers, videographers and the like to communicate with content creators, who are interested in that kind of thing?
So many possibilities… but how to make money on it?
First of all, I don’t give a flying fuck about money. I am danish, I’ve got the corgis (well, they’re not mine, but still) and I got licorice tea. I seek happiness, not money.
Secondly, one single add on a platform like that could generate a few Kroner, and I’ll be fine. I have no plans of creating something huge like OnlyFans; just something better to prove a point and see if anyone is going to run with it later on – perhaps even improve on it.
I’ll keep you updated on how this is going, because it is going to be slow…
